Giovannie Cruz was born on a military instillation in Wuerzburg, Germany to Sergeant Alfredo and pre-school teacher Lourdes from the Caribbean island of Puerto Rico. After coming to the United States, her family settled in Texas. Her childhood consisted of local musical theatre and choir performances where Giovannie stood out as a superior vocalist. On the insistence of her teachers, Giovannie attended the University of North Texas' College of Music where she studied Opera/ Early Music theater as well as German. While in college, Giovannie participated in a number of student films where her ambition towards on camera acting took root. After graduating, Giovannie joined High Definition cover band and began film acting. In the years since, Giovannie has done cartoon voiceover work for FUNimation Productions on shows such as "Space Dandy" and "World End", as well as films opposite Dina Meyer and Spencer Neville ("Amerigeddon"), and TV shows "Murder Made Me Famous" and "Queen of the South."
