He was originally in the band "Mandala Band" and formed Sad Cafe with Paul Young and Ian Wilson in 1976. Their first album was released in 1977, but they shot to fame in 1979 with "Everyday Hurts". He left the band in 1981, to pursue a solo career and toured with them once again in 1985. He was in a band called "Champion" in 1984. He also toured with "Mike + the Mechanics" in 1985/6. He started working with Danish pop-rockers "Michael Learns To Rock" in 1993 and has worked with them a lot since.
