Derek Barr is an English television, theatre, and film actor. His parents are both from Liverpool, where he was born. He has one older sibling. His father worked in street lighting for Sefton Council and his mother as a carer. Derek went to school in Netherton and began studying acting at Liverpool Community College. He furthered this study by gaining entry to the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts. He began auditioning for television parts in his mid twenties.
