Rey Hernandez was born in Havana, Cuba; he moved with his family to Miami, Florida in 1980 in what was then called the Mariel Boat lift. Rey Hernandez and his family have made Miami their home ever since. During his High School years, Rey's love for theater and the arts began to develop. To fulfill that drive and desire, Rey began to work on many local theater projects and independent student films. His unique athleticism and desire for sports also drove him to become very involved in sports such as, Football, Wrestling, Judo and Ju-Jitsu and opened the door to his first television appearances as a stunt fighter. Rey's professionalism, passion and commitment for excellence have been the driving force on all of his endeavors. Rey attended Florida International University in Miami, Florida where he obtained his B.A. in Criminal Justice and Sociology. Rey has always possessed a passion to help those less fortunate and in 1995, Rey joined the Police force in south Florida and has been serving and protecting those who cannot fend for themselves ever since. Little did he know that his expertise as an active police S.W.A.T. Operator, Firearms expert and hand to hand combat instructor coupled with his desire for acting, would renaissance back in his life. In 2003, after a local Miami agent reached out to Rey asking him that he should audition for a Michael Bay production called "Bad Boys 2". Rey agreed and went to the audition. His authenticity and on camera presence was immediately noticed by the casting directors and award winning director Michael Bay, offering Rey one of the main roles in the movie, working along A-list actor Wil Smith and Martin Lawrence as "TNT Zank". Rey's acting career has catapulted ever since becoming a very sought after actor by many casting directors for the authenticity he brings to all his roles and his professionalism on and off screen. Rey's appearances on major motion pictures and television include; Captain Phillips, with Tom Hanks, Burn Notice, with Jeffrey Donovan, G. I. Joe working alongside Bruce Willis and Dwayne Johnson, Prison Break, with Wentworth Miller, Tammy, with Melissa McCarthy, and Lila and Eve, co-staring with Oscar winning Viola Davis, Oscar winner Anthony Hopkins on Solace, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, on The Losers and Martin Freeman on The Start Up, just to name a few of the over 60 credits Rey Hernandez has achieved as an actor. Rey will also appear next year in the TV series, The Oath as a recurring guest star alongside Sean Bean. Rey's ability to be fluent in both Spanish and English enables him, to cross over and work in both the Spanish and American television shows and film.
