Followed shortly after with a recurring role on Netflix's first original limited series Godless (2017), the critically-acclaimed, gritty western that was nominated for twelve Emmys and won three. Grey portrays William McNue, son of the town sheriff (Scoot McNairy) and nephew of Mary Agnes (Merritt Wever) and can be seen in six of the seven episodes. Executive produced by Steven Soderbergh and Casey Silver, along with Scott Frank, who also wrote and directed the series, Godless was named one of 2017's ten best shows by Vanity Fair and The Washington Post.
