Joyce Rivera was born and raised in El Salvador until she moved to Canada with her family in 1991 during the country's Civil War. From early on, she knew she wanted to have a career in Social Services, eventually earning a B.A. degree in Psychology from the University of Prince Edward Island and a B.A. degree in Social Development Studies from the University of Waterloo. Her break in film and television came during a very critical phase in her personal life. She had enrolled in an acting class as a means to relieve work-related stress. Soon after, her acting coach saw her potential and passion for the craft and encouraged her to pursue an acting career. She has since played roles in various film and television shows including Schitt's Creek, The Art of More, Paranormal Witness,19-2 and Atom Egoyan's latest feature film, Remember. Joyce enjoys drawing, painting and spending time with her family.
