Ana Zins was born and raised in Houston, Texas. Her mother is from Spain; her American-born father's family are English, Dutch and Lebanese. Ms. Zins had a brief stint working at New Line Cinema, then at Regent Entertainment in development, production, and distribution on independent feature and television films while volunteering for three years as a festival screener for IFP/FIND and the AFI programming departments. Ms. Zins studied Filmmaking at the New York Film Academy, participated in the Women in Film Directing Mentorship Program in 2005. Her short film, "Bubbles" a children & family comedy, premiered on Steven Spielberg and Mark Burnett's "On The Lot" website, and had it's theatrical premiere at the Reel Women International Film Festival in 2007 in Hollywood. Her other short film, "Getting Gretta", a teen romantic comedy, also premiered at the Reel Women International Film Festival in 2006 and was an official selection of the Broad Humor International Film Festival in Venice, California in 2006. Ms. Zins continues to develop her feature film and television projects under her Mighty Girl Productions banner, and is a member of Women in Film. She is married to Charles E. Ruben. She has an adult daughter from her previous marriage and she had a 4-year-old son from a previous marriage who died from a tragic car accident in rural Indiana while in his father's care. She later lost her younger sister who was killed.
