Jake has only been working as a SAG-AFTRA professional in the film and television industry since 2017 and has already worked side by side with such notables as Hugh Jackman, Michelle Williams, Tom Holland, and Danny Glover. The eldest of five children, Jake grew up in Santa Rosa, California and began performing in local children's theatre where he fell in love with singing and dancing. He attended public and private schools, including an all-boys Catholic High School. Jake began taking classes at the local Junior College when he was just 12 through the Theatre Arts Department. As a teenager Jake traveled all over the Western United States, including Las Vegas at age 17 where he competed and won multiple Regional and National tap dance competitions. At this time he also studied various acting techniques, and musical theatre with the prestigious American Conservatory Theatre's (A.C.T.) Young Conservatory Program in San Francisco. At age 21, Jake was invited to study at the Joffrey Ballet School in New York City. This move ultimately led to a decade and a half of performing in professional musical theatre productions across the country, and picked up his Actors Equity Association (AEA) membership card along the way. After many years on the road and constantly relocating due to his career in theatre and dance, Jake moved back to California to take a short hiatus, however, he learned in time that one of his favorite new shows on Netflix (13 Reasons Why) was being shot in and around his hometown. Jake was quickly hired for Season Two as a background actor which he was thrilled about, however- to his amazement, upon reporting to set on his first day was immediately asked to stand-in for one of the lead characters. This led to a whole season of stand-in work for many of the lead characters, but mostly for the role of Bryce Walker, played by Justin Prentice. Jake was then asked if he would take on a "core" role, portraying a Juror in the trial that revolved around Season Two of 13 Reasons Why. At this juncture, Jake officially became a member of The Screen Actors Guild (SAG). Consequently, 13 Reasons Why will forever hold a special place in Jake's heart, (having no formal training in film or television) this is where he learned the ropes and technical aspects of working on a high budget film set. Joining the union quickly opened up many doors in the San Francisco film market, including work on The OA (Netflix), Wine Country (Netflix) and two Marvel films: Ant-Man and the Wasp and Venom, in addition to The Last Black Man In San Francisco starring Danny Glover. Jake returned to New York in 2018 and within two days upon his arrival he had landed his first role on Blue Bloods (CBS); followed by featured work in Fosse/Verdon (FX Mini-Series, produced by Lin-Manuel Miranda) playing opposite Michelle Williams, Hide and Seek starring Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Tales of the City (produced by Laura Linney), Bad Education alongside Hugh Jackman, Spider-Man: Far From Home (Marvel) with Tom Holland, and as a lawyer in the final season of Orange Is The New Black (Netflix). Jake has also worked on the sets of Law & Order SVU (NBC), Billions (Showtime), Madam Secretary (CBS), The Godfather of Harlem (EPIX), The Code (CBS), The Blacklist (NBC), Power (Starz), Bull (CBS) The Enemy Within (NBC), Modern Love (Amazon), Broad City (Comedy Central) among others. When not in front of the camera, Jake has been co-producing and directing a documentary with his mother (who also worked on Season Two of 13 Reasons Why and Ant-Man and the Wasp) under Hanson Family Productions LLC, called #LoveOneAnother (projected 2020 release date), which examines and questions the high rates of suicide among LGBTQ members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. (LoveOneAnotherFilm.com) Jake is the proud uncle of six nephews, loves to cook, sing, and even had the opportunity to sing with The Mormon Tabernacle Choir in 2018 as an openly gay member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Jake has also been known to frequent Disney Theme Parks during his off-time. He also loves all things Broadway, and will always credit the stage as his first love and where he feels most at home.
